I am a qualified and currently practising NHS midwife with a passion for holistic care based in Buckinghamshure. I have 3 wonderfull children (2 biological sons and 1 Bonus daughter) who keep me on my toes and drive me forward. Qualified and accredited in the use of aromatherapy for childbirth, biomechanics for birth as well as Hypnobirthing I have experience in all aspects of maternity care. But my passion and main experience lies within individualised care, as part of a continuity team. Including experience in working for a thriving homebirth team.
I believe that all families should feel fully informed, prepared and well supported on their journey into parenthood. I have seen the benefits to families that building a professional but trusting relationship can have, especially when it comes to helping them navigate maternity services with confidence and advocating for themselves. I help give you the tools that you need to question your care and the options offered to you.
Holistic midwifery care is at the heart of a midwives role. It helps us to ensure that we look at every birthing person as a whole. Supporting not just their physical needs and health - But their mental health as well.
The Therapeutic Midwife was created from my own personal experience of Mental health struggles during the pandemic. Whilst working frontline and pregnant with my own Rainbow baby my mental health suffered significantly. I realised very quickly that there is a massive gap in the current NHS medical model of care. The Mind, Body and soul are intrinsically linked. Our thoughts and feelings during pregnancy has the ability to impact our labour and how we experience the birth process. Therefore it is so important for us to know how to nurture not only good mental health but also be aware of daily practices that can help to maintain it long term. It is so important that we train and nurture our brains with as much information and knowledge - to support informed decision making as possible. As well as learning how to form positive connections. This helps us to feel calmer, more confident and helps you to advocate for yourselves far easier.
